Before Trump ramped up tariff threats, inflation was cooling
Consumer prices rose just 2.4 percent in March from a year earlier, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists warned that the data is mostly backward-looking and likely to be overtaken by the impact of the tariffs that President Donald Trump has left in place, including huge duties on China, even after the 90-day pause of some tariffs announced Wednesday.
